Additional Description: The iconic camper style meets with a ton more modern convenience in this 1987 Volkswagen Vanagon Westfalia. It's all part of a low-mileage, well-documented, and exceptionally maintained symbol of the open road. The versatile forward-control style and squared-off "bread van" style make this instantly reminiscent of the classic VW Bus. That's because the Vanagon is the more powerful, larger, and nimbler successor. The Wolfram Grey has a crisp and classic look. This is believed to be the original application, and it continues to look quite nice today. That's because this classic Westfalia has averaged only about 2,600 miles annually. This is the kind of low mileage we would want on just a regular vintage vehicle, and so it's almost impossible to find it on one that is famous for taking you on plenty of long hauls. A careful life with less use means it looks quite nice, right down to the details, like the chrome bumpers, factory wheel covers, and the instructions still affixed around all this camper's useful features. Inside, the driver gets all the right comforts with high-back bucket seat finished in a comfy cloth and has dual adjustable armrests to make sure it's long-haul comfortable. Plus, there's a large steering wheel, full instrumentation, and a gearshift within easy reach. There's even an upgraded AM/FM/CD stereo, cup holders, and provisions for air conditioning (will need servicing before blowing cold again.) But the true luxuries are all behind this. There's a refillable propane tank that runs the refrigerator and cook top. And there are also hookups to deliver water to the stainless steel sink. Built-in cabinets, a fold-up table, privacy curtains, and a fold-flat bed all mean you can take home with you in a compact and well-organized package. Also, as a true Westfalia, it has the iconic pop-up roof for comfortable camping, and it's in great condition. Besides being larger than a VW Bus, the Vanagon is also desirable for its drivetrain package. The motor is a more powerful 2.1-liter flat-four. This fuel-injected powerplant will still not win any drag races, but the Vanagon has much more going for it. The motor is mounted low in the body for a low center of gravity, and the weight near the rear driving wheels delivers a similar power/traction advantages of the original Beetle. There's also a fully independent suspension and the control of a four-speed manual transmission. So if you've never driven one before, you're going to be surprised at how lively this VW feels on the road. Add in power steering and power brakes w/discs up front, and this is quite a nice total driving package for the long haul. This low-mileage Westfalia even comes with impressive paperwork, like the original window sticker, owner's manual, title documentation, service manuals, and maintenance records. This is the VW camper that delivers the classic look you love but with extra space, convenience, and usefulness. Better adventures await you, but only if you call today!
